Alvin L. Richards

WOODRUFF- Alvin Lavern Richards, 78, of 413 Fortenberry Road died Sunday, May 7, 2017.

  A native of Laurens County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Inez Lyda Richards and the widower of Mary Jo Fowler Richards.  He was a member of Knighton Chapel Wesleyan Church, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of Bethel Masonic Lodge #112 and was retired from Kohler Company.

  Surviving are one daughter, Tammy Robinson of the home; two sons, Mike (Wendy) Richards of Woodruff and Gene (Ruthie) Richards of Simpsonville; two sisters, Robbie Nell Hudson of Woodruff and Nettie Lee Lambert of Hickory Tavern; three brothers; Bobby Joe (Ann) Richards of Woodruff, James Richards of Cross Anchor and Harold (Ann) Richards of Woodruff; 6 grandchildren, Jeremy Richards (Jamie), Tracy Richards (Jamie), Michelle Call (Scott), Brandon Robinson (Amy), David  Richards (Crystal) and Brittany Richards (Eric); 7 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Caleb Clauson, Olivia and Emmalyn Call, Eli Lamb, Skyleigh Richards and Ellis Richards; special caregivers, Tina Wofford, Joyce Brock and also his friend Wallace.  He was predeceased by three sisters, Slean Vinson, Shirlene Richards and Edna Weathers; one brother, Charles Richards and a great-grandchild, Tagen Lamb “TT”.

  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Fred Quidley and Rev. Steve Love.  Interment will follow with military honors in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

  Visitation will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

  The family is at the residence.
