FOUNTAIN INN- Curtis Denson Culpepper, 91, of 530 Durbin Meadows Road went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 16, 2016 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
A native of Banks County, Georgia, he was the son of the late J.L. and Roxie Jane Carroll Culpepper. He was a retired claims appraiser with State Farm Insurance and was a member of Woodruff Church of God. He served his country as a signalman in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and remained a soldier and patriot in his heart for the rest of his life. He was a member of Gideons International and a graduate of Holmes Theological Seminary.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Betty Marchbanks Culpepper of the home; one daughter, Linda Culpepper Mansfield of Greenville; four sons, Ron Culpepper of Travelers Rest, Michael Culpepper of Simpsonville, Steve Culpepper of Simpsonville and Todd Culpepper of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Lorraine Bright of Greenville; two brothers, Boyd Culpepper of Fountain Inn and Harley Culpepper of Clinton; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Curtis was a man of deep faith and character. He was both courageous and courteous; a man of great strength and overflowing with compassion. He lived out his values every day, and followed with devotion the truth of one of his favorite scriptures: “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Prov. 3:6.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Woodruff Church of God by Rev. Curtis Terry, Rev. James Shealy and Rev. Richard Porterfield. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum, Greenville.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 19, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary, Woodruff.
