GRAY COURT- Dorothy Ann Simmons Cook, 88, of 697 West Main Street entered into Heavenly rest Monday, April 17, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 25, 1928 in Leesville, S.C. to the late John Walter and Laura Belle Hellams Simmons and was predeceased by her adoring husband, Jack Leonard Cook. She was a lifelong member of Dial’s United Methodist Church, and enjoyed serving on many church committees in tribute to her faith and her church. Dorothy was an avid reader. She loved to do needlework and graced many of her friends and family with her hand crocheted afghans. Dorothy was always eager to share a joke, have a sit down chat and was famous for her Pound Cake. She was sure a Pound Cake could cure most problems.
She was a graduate of Gray Court Owings High School and received her BS from Limestone College. She was retired from the Greenville Hospital System.
Surviving are two daughters, Jewell Katheren Cook Pendarvis (James B. Luquire), Nancy Laura Cook Lachicotte (Brad Craven), one son, Michael Scott Cook (Laura D. Clifford), one sister, Judith Simmons Putnam; 6 grandchildren, Jesse Michael Cook (Raquel), Jack Dylan Cook (Toni Coomer), Julian Hunter Pendarvis (Stephanie), Jewell Summers Pendarvis, Margaret Lachicotte Whitfield (Andy) and Laura Simmons Lachicotte; 2 great-granddaughters, Isabella Sofia and Olivia Lauren Cook. She was predeceased by a sister, Jean Hellams Mathias and a brother, John Walter (Pete) Simmons.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Dial’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, 11828 Hwy. 101 S., Gray Court, S.C. by Rev. J.D. Putman.
The family will receive friends at the home, 697 West Main Street, Gray Court, immediately following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to a charity of one's choice.
