WOODRUFF- Hazel Rogers McCarter, 97, of the Switzer Community passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 peacefully, at Regional Hospice Home.
A beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and native of Switzer, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Newport and Laura Boiter Rogers and was the widow of James Albert McCarter.
She was a dedicated member of Switzer First Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and provided in home nursing care after retirement. She loved to crochet, was an avid gardener and loved word searches.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Albert McCarter (Gail) of Huntersville, NC; and their sons, Jonathan McCarter of Atlanta, GA. and Christopher McCarter of Lincolnton, NC.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Donald Floyd McCarter, two sisters, Zellie Snyder and Nina Williams and three brothers, Lester Rogers, Wirron Rogers and Herbert Rogers.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. George McDowell. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg with a committal by Rev. George McDowell.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
