James Milledge “Jim” Gibert, 77, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Born July 25, 1940 in Plum Branch, SC., he was the son of the late James Lee Gibert and Eugenia Langley Gibert.

He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and uncle who always put family first. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ann Myrl Lanford Gibert, his children, Pierette Gibert Haraden, Jay Gibert (Melinda), five grandchildren, Nick, Alex and Van Haraden, Liam and Gracie Crowe, sister, Jean Gibert Dewitt (Marion) and nieces and nephews, Andrew, Langley, Will, Allison and Mary Curtis.

He was a member of Emma Gray United Methodist Church, an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Wofford College.

His businesses to which he was dedicated and enjoyed included: Western Auto, A Goodyear Tire Store, WDRF Radio, Gibert Co. Inc. Real Estate Brokerage Firm, and many other development and investment endeavors.

Ever dedicated to his community, he served in many capacities within the Woodruff Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Mobile Meals and the County Board of Education. He enjoyed being a member of the Woodruff Investment Club and the Hugonot Society of SC.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at Emma Gray Memorial United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church with Rev. Robert Boggs and Rev. Matthew Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

In honor of his loving canine companion, Sophie, memorials may be made to the Full Moon Farm Wolfdog Sanctuary, P.O. Box 1374 Black Mountain, NC 28711.
