John B. Brockman Jr.

GREER- John Belton Brockman Jr., 94, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

A lifetime resident of Spartanburg County, he was born May 19, 1922 to the late JB Brockman Sr. and Mamie Bearden Brockman. He was a graduate of Woodruff High School and attended Clemson and Wofford Colleges. He valiantly served his country in the army during WW II in the China Burma India theatre. He had met the love of his life, Louise Cox, while at college an...d they married shortly after his return from the war. They celebrated 71 years of marriage this year.

John B. was a long serving member of Bellview Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and taught Sunday school for many years. He was a devoted servant of the Lord and a true model of a Christian husband and father. John B. retired from the SC Employment Security Commission after many years of service.
Besides his wife, John B. is survived by four children; Joselyn Holcombe (Cres), Diane Wilhelm (Jim), John B. Brockman III, and Miriam McKinney (Stan); five grandsons, Justin Holcombe (Amy), Eric Holcombe (Christina), Brockman and Austin McKinney, and JB Wilhelm; two great-grandchildren, Audra and Keaton Holcombe; one brother, Kent Brockman, Sr. (Ruth) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Kimbrell.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Bright Star in Greer and Open Arms Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Bellview Baptist Church by Rev. Carey Caldwell. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45 P.M. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bellview Baptist Church, 901, Bellview Road, Woodruff, .S.C 2938.
