WOODRUFF- Kimberly Sue “Kim” Fowler, 58, went home to Heaven, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Kim was born in Woodruff, S.C. on November 12, 1958 and was the daughter of the late H. Everette and Hazel Johnson Fowler and was the wife of Lester Fowler. After being employed for a few years in her young adult life, she had a passion to become a nurse. She had earned AAH, BSN and MSN degrees in nursing, all with honors and was close to receiving her doctorate. Kim had a 28 year nursing career and was a nursing instructor for Mary Black School of Nursing, Greenville Campus and also served on the Faculty Senate for USC Upstate when she became a third time cancer patient that would take her life. She was Past Matron of the Reidville Chapter #46 Eastern Star, Grand Ruth of the SC Chapter 2015 and 2016 and was District Deputy of District 4.
Memories of her will be cherished by two sisters, Trudy F. Sherbert of Greer and Dayna F. Chumley (Gary) of Woodruff. She loved her nieces and nephews, Dr. J. David Sherbert, Christian E. Sherbert, Christina C. Thompson, Melissa C. Workman, Chris Fowler and Dan Fowler and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a nephew, T. Ray Sherbert Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Pastor Jerry Madden, Dr. Tommy Harvey and Dr. Bob McCuen. Interment will follow in Green Pond Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:45 P.M. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cancer Association, 295 E. Main Street, Ste. 100, Spartanburg, S.C. 29302 or to the church of one’s choice.
The family is at the home of Gary and Dayna Chumley, 301 Allen Bridge Road, Woodruff.
