Mabel M. Hayes

WOODRUFF- Mabel Melton Hayes, 79, formerly of Roebuck, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

  A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late John Newton and Ruth Coggins Melton and was the widow of Eugene F. Hayes.  She was first married to the late Earl Ballard Sr.   She attended Roebuck High School and was a member of Burnsview Baptist Church.  Mrs. Hayes was retired as owner of Custom Stitch Inc. 

  Surviving are two daughters, Debbi Lambert of Woodruff and Patti (Don) Marler of Pickens; two brothers, Harold Melton of Woodruff and Paul Melton of Spartanburg; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth (David) Armstrong, Adam (Stacey) Lambert, Casey Ballard and Garrett (Libby) Marler; 6 great-grandchildren.   She was predeceased by a son, Earl Ballard Jr.; one sister, Helen Sutherland and two brothers, Marvin Melton and Herman Melton.

  Graveside services will be conducted Friday, May 6, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. at Switzer First Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Tim Huckaby.

  Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:30 P.M. prior to the service at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Burnsview Baptist Church Building Fund, 9690 Reidville Road, Greer, S.C. 29651.

  The family is at the home of Debbi Lambert, Woodruff.
