WOODRUFF- Ray Simpson Chappell, 88, of 612 Woodruff Street died Friday, October 14, 2016.
A native of Pickens County, he was the son of the late Floyd S. and Birdie Brown Chappell. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, member of the Recreation Committee, former R.A. Director and choir member. He was a retired machinist with Reliance Electric.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen Arnold Chappell; one daughter, Kaye (Robert) Lawson of Woodruff; one sister, Effie Brown of Greer. He was predeceased by two sisters, Virgie Vandeburg and Bernice Watson; five brothers, James Chappell, Floyd Chappell Jr., W.A. Chappell, George Chappell and Charles Chappell.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Robert King, Rev. John Huckaby and Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 464 Woodruff Street, Woodruff, S.C. 29388.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Kaye Lawson, 1591 Green Pond Road, Woodruff.
