Reba H. Thackston

WOODRUFF- Reba Hayes Thackston, 96, formerly of Woodruff, died Monday, September 12, 2016 at Simpsonville Health and Rehab.

  A native of Macon, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Harmen Hayes

 and Alexa Eavenson Hayes and was the widow of Max P. Thackston.  She was a retired employee with The Woodruff News and was a member of Selma Baptist Church.

  Surviving are one daughter, Suzanne Thackston Shuler and her husband, Rev. William A. Shuler III of Greenville; son-in-law, Charles E. Richards of Woodruff; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great- grandchildren.  She was predeceased by two daughters, Peggy Thackston Richards and Patricia Thackston Owings.

  Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Selma Baptist Church by Rev. Fred Quidley, Rev. Michael Owings and Rev. William Shuler III.  Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

  Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Selma Baptist Church Building Fund, 851 Lawson Road, Woodruff, S.C. 29388.

  The family is at the home of Charlie Richards, 424 Country Estates Road, Woodruff.
