WOODRUFF- William Warren “Billy” Mason, 68, of 451 Grace Street, Apt. D, Greenwood, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Greenwood Hospice Care of the Piedmont.
Born on May 15, 1949 and raised in Woodruff, he was the son of the late William Elliott Mason and Sara Pearson Mason. He was a graduate of Woodruff High School and Greenville Technical College. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran where he served as a communications specialist in Iceland and in Hawaii. While in the Navy he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Award, and the Naval Unit Commendation Honor. After his service in the Navy he was employed by Monsanto (MEMC), General Electric and CIRCOR. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Woodruff.
Surviving are one brother, Stephen Elliott Mason of Columbia; two sisters, Barbara M. Swain (Reggie) of Greenwood and Shirley Carpenter of Greenwood; 4 nephews, Scott Swain, Spencer Swain, Blake Carpenter and Michael Carpenter; one niece, Sunny Swain.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Rev. Spencer C. Swain.
Visitation will immediately follow the service at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Billy may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 360 East Georgia Street, Woodruff, S.C. 29388.
