Charles B. Stewart

Charles Ballenger Stewart, 94, widower of Mary Dandridge Oltman Stewart of Woodruff died Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home.

Born March 6, 1923 in Laurens County, he was a son of the late William Tinsley Stewart and Mabel Moore Stewart.  He was a graduate of Clemson University class of 1944, he was the owner of Stewart Furniture Company for over 70 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder Emeritus and a member of the church choir. He was a member of the Woodruff Rotary Club, treasurer of the Boy Scout Troop, Chief of Walter Stewart Family Clan for 30 years and a United States Army WWII veteran in the 69th Infantry Company E-273rd.

Mr. Stewart was a devoted husband, father and loved to play Bridge and to fish.

Surviving are his sons, Charles Richard Stewart and wife Caroline Batson Stewart of Greenville, William Gordon Stewart and wife Rhonda Chapple Stewart of Charlotte; daughter, Elizabeth Stewart Hall and husband Robert Baker Hall of Woodruff; sister, Mary Stewart Newton of Charleston and 8 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers, William Moore Stewart and John Tinsley Stewart.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Phillips and Rev. Beth Hoskins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 360 E Georgia St, Woodruff, SC 29388.

The family is at the home of Robert and Beth Hall, 151 Oakwood Drive, Three Pines, Woodruff, SC.
