Jenell H. Godfrey

WOODRUFF- Ida Jenell H. Godfrey, 87, of 1552 Knighton Chapel Road passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at her residence.

  A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Eliza Hensley Lawson and the late William Hensley.  She was the widow of Thomas O. Godfrey and was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

  Surviving are one daughter, Julia E. Godfrey; one brother, John Lawson; one sister, Betty (Otis) Cook; one grandson, Richard T. Stribling; two great-granddaughters.  She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews that loved her dearly, whom knew her as their second mama and is also survived by her precious caregiver Bessie Stephens.  She was pre-deceased by a son, Samuel Wayne Godrey and 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Unity Baptist Church by Rev. Fred Quidley.  Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

  The body will be carried to the residence Tuesday, April 11, 2017 where the family will receive friends after 1:00 P.M.
