WOODRUFF- Sara Griffin Burke Fortner, 87, of 168-A Shennandale Circle, Georgia Manor went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

  A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Jeru Avery and Bonnie Raines Griffin and the widow of T.J. Fortner and was first married to the late George “Bobby” Burke.  She was a retired employee with Union Carbide and was a former member of West End Baptist Church.

  Surviving are two sons, Barry (Teresa) Burke of Duncan and Joel (Patti) Burke of Woodruff; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a son, Gary Burke.

  Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Kenny Moore.  Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

  Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:45 p.m. prior to the service.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to West End Baptist Church, P.O. Box 205, Woodruff, S.C. 29388.

  The family would like to give their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the staff at Greenville Memorial Hospital, including the Emergency Room, ICU and Comfort Care for all their care and support during this time of sickness and loss.

  The family is at their respective homes.
