Bill Rutledge
WOODRUFF- William Gary “Bill” Rutledge, 65, of 1002 Green Pond Road passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Regency Hospital in Florence, S.C.
A native of Maryville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Moody Raymond Rutledge Jr. and Lelia Persinger Rutledge. He was a member of Emma Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, a salesman for many years and later operated the Rutledge Family Farm. He was a 1971 graduate of Wade Hampton High School, attended Montreat Anderson College and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee.
Bill enjoyed the simplicity of nature, long rides on his tractor in the fields, and listening to and telling stories, as he loved to learn about others and fondly reminisce on his own past. He loved to spend time with his “little family” and spent the latter part of his life in Myrtle Beach.
Surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Rutledge Floyd and her husband, Charles of Longs, S.C.; one brother, Moody Raymond “Ray” Rutledge III of Woodruff; one beloved grand-daughter, Eva Lelia Floyd. He is also survived by many friends and loved ones.
A graveside service will be held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rutledge Family Farm, 600 Pierce Cook Road, Woodruff by Rev. Andy Watson.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the family residence.
