Alton Carl “Monk” West

WOODRUFF- Alton Carl “Monk” West, 80, of 1729 Green Pond Road went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 6, 2023, at his home.

  He was born May 19, 1943, in Spartanburg County to the late Alford West and Grace Waddell West Garrett Norton.  He was a retired employee with Hoechst Fiber and was a member of Selma Baptist Church. 

  Surviving is his wife, Marlene Rhodes West of the home; one son, Timothy Alton West (Lorie); two daughters, Tammy West and Tina West; one brother, Wayne Garrett (Leah); 8 grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a sister, Judy Fincher.

  Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Selma Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Cato and Rev. Bob Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Green Pond Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Simmons, Eric Johnson, Logan Samples, Eddie Casey, Mitch Miles, and Brandon Garrett.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Selma Baptist Church, P.O. Box 126, Woodruff, SC 29388.
