Amy S. Sloan

WOODRUFF- Amy Smith Sloan, 82, of 9651 Highway 221 went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 12, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center.

  She was born January 23, 1942, in Spartanburg County to the late Marvin Smith and Mary Wofford Smith and was the widow of Donald Erskine Sloan who died October 28, 2019.  She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where she founded the Survivor’s Club, a grief support group for widows and widowers.  She was a retired ministerial assistant from the South Carolina Baptist Convention (White Oak Conference Center) and had assisted at Poplar Springs Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church.

  Surviving is one son, David Sloan (Kim) of Rock Hill; one daughter, Donna Goodwin (Dennis) of Woodruff; one sister, Janice Roberson of Liberty; four grandchildren, April Scott (Eric), Devin Kauffmann (Hailee), Danielle Kravrik (Rob) and Hannah Grace Sloan; three great-grandchildren, Keagen Scott, Braylon Scott and Kailee Scott.  She was predeceased by four sisters, Hazel Rogers, Thelma Blanton, Mary Ann Waddell and Ruth Edwards and four brothers, Harold Smith, Joe Smith, Wayne Smith and Frank Smith.

  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church by Dr. Gary Rogers, Rev. Tyson Schoch and Mr. David Sloan.  Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

  Serving as pallbearers, Kyle Sloan, Kevin Sloan, Eric Scott, Devin Kauffmann, Rob Kravrik and Keagen Scott.  Honorary Pallbearers, Keith Waddell, Kevin Roberson, Terry Vincent and Jeff Wood.

  Visitation will be held Monday, July 15, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Survivor’s Club C/O Cornerstone Baptist Church, 9480 Highway 221, Woodruff, S.C. 29388
