Benjamin Levi Knighton Jr.
WOODRUFF- Benjamin Levi (Ben/B.L.) Knighton of Woodruff passed away peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, August 15, 2021 in Spartanburg.
B.L. was a native of Spartanburg County, SC and grew up in the Enoree and Woodruff communities. He was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin Levi Knighton and Annie Grubbs Knighton, as well as his sister, Pearl Eller. He was a graduate of Woodruff High School and Clemson University and was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Greer, SC.
B.L. was a passionate educator of History for over 37 years and positively impacted the lives of many students at both Daniel and Eastside High School. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with family and friends, volunteering in his community, an avid Jeopardy fan, discussing History of any type, the Autumn season, and life on the farm as a ‘city farmer’ amongst others.
Surviving are his lovely wife of 52 years, Nancy Turner Knighton; his son, Benjamin Stefan Knighton and his wife, Lisa Baker Knighton; three grandchildren, Joshua Knighton, Brandon Knighton, and Tyler Knighton; three sisters, Betty Jo Hughes, Allene Kuykendall, and Mayzell Betsill.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Woodruff Area Soup Kitchen (online) or to P.O. Box 352, Woodruff, S.C. 29388.
