WOODRUFF- Billy Wayne Mitchem,83, of 1702 SJ Workman Highway went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at his home.

  He was born January 30, 1940, in Spartanburg County to the late Willie Lee “Will” Mitchem and Pauline Stephens Mitchem.  He was the widower of Carol Paty Mitchem who passed away June 8, 2023.  Billy Wayne was a member of Cavins Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, and he was a retired car salesman.

  Surviving are three sisters, Barbara Ann Tucker of Boiling Springs, Brenda Casey of Woodruff, and Beverly Maddox of Woodruff.

  Funeral services will be held on his birthday, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Carrol Caldwell, Rev. Brian Harris, and Rev. Chuck Pace.  Interment will follow at the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.

  Serving as pallbearers, Jeremy Estes, Mitch Maddox, Will Maddox, Bradley Estes, Joey Estes, and Tony McAbee.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Agape Hospice, 516 East Main Street, Spartanburg, S.C. 29302.  The family would also like to give a special Thank You to Agape Hospice for all the love, care and support they received from all the Agape nurses and staff.
