Charles Allen Bailey, of Woodruff, SC, met his Heavenly Father and Savior, surrounded by his loving family, on March 26, 2025. Born on July 5, 1938, in Elizabethton, Tennessee, Charles lived a life marked by devotion, generosity, and joy.
A devoted husband, he shared 61 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Nancy Mitchell Bailey, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his parents, Henry Clay and Pauline Bailey, and his brother, Clay Bailey.
Charles dedicated his professional life as a textile research chemist, contributing his expertise and passion to the field. This afforded him the opportunity to travel around the world. Outside of his career, he found joy in gardening, designing stunning landscapes, woodworking, and crafting wine. His artistic eye and love for the earth were evident in every project he touched.
A faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Woodruff, SC, Charles was known for his unwavering generosity and kind spirit. His faith guided his life, and his love for his church community was profound.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his brother, Michael Bailey (Debra) of Aiken, SC, Sister-in-Law Dianne Phillips (Steve) of North Augusta, SC and his three devoted daughters: Melanie Sprouse (Clay) of Grovetown, GA; Stephanie Reese (Chuck) of Woodruff, SC; and Ashley Albert (Chris) of Pickens, SC.
Charles was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Lauryn Patterson (Aaron), Chase Sprouse, Ben Jones (Nancy), Ivy Reese, Savannah Juarez (David), Rachel Petrina (Bradley), Sarah Wilson (Tyler), Hunter Hixon, Mitchell Hixon (Jaime), and Claire Hixon. His legacy continues through his nine great-grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Charles Allen Bailey’s warmth, laughter, and boundless generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His spirit lives on in the beautiful family he nurtured and the countless lives he touched.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel with Tyson Schoch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to gather and share in remembering the wonderful life of Charles from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the mortuary.
