Dan Tate
WOODRUFF- Daniel Hughes “Dan” Tate, 76, of 12215 Highway 221 went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 27, 2023, at his home.
He was born October 30, 1946, in Rutherfordton County (raised in Mooresboro) to the late James Dennis and Virginia Hughes Tate. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Fellowship I Connect Group and served on the church cemetery committee.
Dan was a disabled veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was in the U.S. Army attached to the Marines. He was a member of the American Legion Post 3 in Greenville. Dan was a proud member of the Patriot Guard, going on over 200 missions. He also loved being a member of the Foothills Antique Power Association. He was a graduate of Western Carolina University and retired from the Auto Industry.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia “Patsy” Tate of the home; one son, Brian Lee Weathers (Cindy) one daughter, Jessica Tate Montjoy (Josh) of Woodruff; grandchildren, Ashton Sloan (Jackson), Madi Montjoy, Matthew Weathers, Grace Weathers, Tate Montjoy, Ella Weathers and Harper Kate Montjoy; brother-in-law, Steve Carlton of Spartanburg; one sister-in-law, Larinda Tate of Wrightsville, Georgia. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Tate.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church by Rev. Danny Garrett and Rev. Heyward Calvert. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 13683 Hwy. 221, Enoree, S.C. 29335.
The family is at the home of Jessica and Josh Montjoy, 12301 Highway 221, Woodruff.
