Daniel L. Hamilton
On January 3rd, 2021 Daniel Lester Hamilton, 66, of Enoree, South Carolina, died unexpectedly yet peacefully in his home surrounded with love by his entire family.
Dan was born on May 27, 1954 in Hornell, NY to Orland Daniel Hamilton and Gertrude Lorraine Shook. On August 9th, 1975 he married his soul mate Linda Gene Keck. They raised two daughters, Malissa “RagNut” and Tanya “T”, and two sons, Bradley and Daniel.
Dan was predeceased by his mother, Gertrude, father, Orland, stepfather, Eugene, sisters, Marie and Linda, father in-law, Lewis, mother in-law, Charlotte, sister in-law, Rosa, brother in-law, John, and grand-daughter, Brittany. He was survived by his wife, Linda, daughters, Malissa and Tanya, sons, Bradley and Daniel, God Daughter, Amy, son in-laws, Jerry and Amir, and daughter in-law Jackie. Three grandsons, Jacob “JD”, Noah “New” and Zach “Chitter,” and three granddaughters Malaya “Bug”, Skylar “Cricket” and Paige “Peanut,” brother in-laws Lewis “Bud,” Scott and Edward “Ed,” and sister in-law, Mary. He was survived by sisters, Lorraine, Elizabeth and Joanne and brothers, Lauren, Andy, Chip and Lewis, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dan served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War from 1973 to 1976. He retired from Polly-o Dairy in Campbell, NY, worked for Southern Tier Logistics in Horseheads, NY, and then retired from Quality Haulers in Enoree, SC in December of 2019.
Dan lived for his family and friends. He had the ability to leave a lasting impression on every person he met. He was filled with pride and an unwavering work ethic, and he was known by his colleagues as “a walking GPS.”
Services will be held on Friday, January 8th, 2021 at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary in Woodruff, South Carolina. Viewing for friends and family will be from 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm. Services will follow at 3:30 pm led by longtime friend, Jamie Wade AKA “PreacherMan.” He will then be flown to New York were an additional viewing and service will be held at Carpenters Funeral Home in Corning, NY at a date TBD the week of January 11th, 2021.
