Don Gillespie

WOODRUFF- Donald Brooks “Don” Gillespie, 85, of 816 Cross Anchor Road went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Regional Hospice Home.

  He was born March 11, 1939, in Spartanburg County to the late Brooks Thomas Gillespie and Janie Lou Payne Gillespie.  He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and was also a textile sales manager for many years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodruff where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member.  He was also Past Master with Bethel Masonic Lodge #112.

  Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Dianne Taylor Gillespie of the home; one son, Scott Gillespie (Laurie) of Woodruff; two daughters, Lisa Barker (Steve) of Atlanta, Georgia and Brooke Clay (Gregg) of Moore; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a sister, Martha Caldwell and a brother, James “Jim” Gillespie.

  A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, August 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Woodruff by Rev. Andrew Shull and Rev. Dr. Todd Lowe.

  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
