WOODRUFF- Doris Smith “Dot” Werner, 93, formerly of West Georgia Road went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at NHC of Laurens.
She was born March 17, 1927 in Donalds, S.C., Abbeville County to the late Clyde Evans and Alice Beasley Smith and was the widow of Clyde “Ham” Werner. Mrs. Werner was a member of Emma Gray Memorial United Methodist Church where she also was a member of the church choir, Joy Club and the Lunch Bunch. She was a retired RN with Dr. Guy Blakely, MD. and after her retirement she was a substitute teacher at Woodruff High School.
Surviving are one daughter, Vicki Werner McCartney (David) of Zirconia, NC; one son, Joey Werner (Debbie) of Williamston; one sister, Belva Smith Hamer of Columbia; one brother, James Donnie Smith of Mt. Pleasant; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Emma Gray Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. Andy Watson and Rev. Kenny Ashley. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Serving as pallbearers, Bryan Werner, Ross Werner, Greg Werner, Chase Abercrombie, Brandon Moses and Dale Long.
