Dr. Steven Earl Meadows
Dr. Steven E. Meadows from Woodruff, South Carolina, and Clemson University Beef Cattle Specialist passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 9, 2023.
A graduate of Woodruff High School and Clemson University, Dr. Meadows was an animal geneticist dedicated to improving the quality and industry standard for beef cattle. He was the director of the Clemson University Bull Test Station, and he is fondly remembered by cattle breeders, students, and constituents for spending a lifetime of helping cattle farmers in South Carolina, as well as mentoring future generations through his involvement with the junior cattleman’s and other agricultural associations. He was a trusted partner, gentleman farmer, mentor, and friend. A man of faith, integrity and courage, his favorite moments were spent with his family, especially those involving his beloved grandchildren, Harrison Gable, and Henry Gable. Dr. Meadows will truly be missed.
Born May 17, 1962, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of Ruby Nell Leake Meadows of Woodruff and the late Marshall Theodore “Yogi” Meadows.
Surviving is his wife, Andrea Owens-Meadows; one son, Steven Meadows II, and wife Amber; daughter, Sarah Meadows Gable and husband William.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary, 257 North Main Street, Woodruff. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary with Pastor Tracy Hamilton officiating.
The family is at the home of his mother, Ruby Nell Meadows, 449 West Georgia Street, Woodruff.
