Obituary for Erek Scott Syring

December 2, 1997 – October 26, 2021

  Erek Scott Syring of Roebuck, SC passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at his home in Roebuck, SC.  He was born December 2, 1997, in Twentynine Palms, CA.

  Erek is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mandee and Gary Hynson of McKinney, TX and father, John Syring of Inman, SC; siblings are his younger brother Jacob (Jake, his best friend) of Inman, SC; one step-brother, Justin Hynson and one step-sister, Gillian Del Real both of Texas; grandparents, Melinda and Craig Nemitz of Roebuck, SC; Betty and Leonard Salinas of Caddo Mills, TX; step-grandparents Glen Hynson and Mickey Sparks, TX; great grandmother Judith Morris of TX, and step great grandparents John and Jeanne Nemitz, Roebuck, SC.  Erek was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Syring, great grandmother Ruth Fountain, great grandfather, Leonardo Salinas Sr, and step-brother, Cody Hynson.

  Erek Graduated from High School in McKinney, TX.  He has lived in several places but at the current time he had moved to South Carolina and was living at his grandparents location in Roebuck.  Erek was currently employed by Hobby Lobby in Spartanburg. 

  Erek made a decision to make the Lord Jesus Christ his Savior in May of this year at The Grove Church in Spartanburg.  It was a great privilege to see him baptized as a part of the first baptism to be held in this new church (started in March, 2021).  He was very active in the Youth Group which he loved and attended faithfully. Erek was truly a servant to everyone; he was always available to serve and help in whatever capacity was needed.  Erek had a saying, “Real men wear pink,” so his mother requested he be buried in a pink shirt.  He enjoyed playing computer video games and watching movies with his dad and brother.  He also enjoyed volley ball, spending time with his baby cousin, Maddie and just sitting around with everyone drinking coffee.  He loved people and people loved him.  He will be greatly missed.

  A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the Grove Church located at 805 Spartan Blvd, Spartanburg, SC 29301 with Pastor Keith Cothran officiating. 

  A service and burial will be held in McKinney, Texas at a later date under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Memorial Funeral Home.
