WOODRUFF- Freddie Wayne Yates, 72, of 114 Winter Street died Friday, October 26, 2018 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement in Laurens.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Orvil and Ila Pearl O’Shields. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran having served 16 years and also served in Vietnam.

Surviving are his wife, Junko Yates of the home; three sons, Melvin Yates, Rodney Yates and Ricky Yates all of Montgomery, Alabama; one daughter, Denise Novosel of Greenwood; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Memorial Gardens in Roebuck by Rev. Buster Ball and Mr. Charles O’Shields.

Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

The family is at their respective homes.
