Harry E. Rakes
PAULINE- Harry Edwin Rakes, 75, of Pauline went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Regional Hospice Home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Borger, Texas to the late Wilbur Lewis and Christine LaVerne Crowl Rakes. He was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church where he served his Lord faithfully. He was a R.A. Leader and served as a leader with AWANA (Children’s Ministry). Harry also served as the Men’s Sunday School Class Teacher, Chairman of the Missions Committee, a choir member and served as Chairman of the Constitution Committee. He was a retired Building Superintendent with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, S.C. Harry served his country in the United States Air Force.
Surviving is his loving wife, Norma Jean Gault Rakes of the home; son Timothy Rakes of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter Misty Kelly and her husband, Todd of Kingsland, Georgia; stepdaughter, Jenny Gault Bogan and her husband, Randy of Woodruff; brother, Travis Rakes and his wife, Kay of Ocala, Florida and a sister, Wanda Bunk of Green Cove Springs, Florida. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and their spouses, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 step-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his brother, Ray Rakes and his wife, Jodi.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church, 220 Cedar Shoals Church Road, Enoree by Dr. Brad Starnes and Mr. Donald Bunk Jr., nephew. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Serving as pallbearers are Stephen Kelly, Jacob Kelly, Daniel Bailey, Josh Showalter, Ryan Masters and Nathan Masters. Honorary Pallbearers are Liam Showalter and Levi Showalter.
