James R. Owens

ENOREE- James Robert Owens, 84, of 27094 Highway 221 passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at his home.

  He was born September 14, 1939, in Laurens County to the late Archie and Ellie W. Owens.  He was a retired truck driver with Walmart and of the Methodist faith. 

  Surviving is his wife, Leona Owenby Owens of the home; three sons, James Archie Owens (Veronica) of Enoree, Arthur Allen Owens of Enoree and Damon Ray Owens (Doris) of Spartanburg; one daughter, Helen Owens Noles of Laurens; two sisters, Carolyn Weathers (Willie) of Woodruff and Martha Knight of Woodruff; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

  Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Gregory Thompson.  A cremation will follow the service.

  Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Patterson Chapel United Methodist Church, 3210 Highway 92, Enoree, S.C. 29335 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.

  The family is at the residence.
