Janet V. Sloan

WOODRUFF- Janet Volkman Sloan, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

    She was born February 1, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Rev. Oscar Volkman and Nellie O’Neale Volkman. She was retired from Felters formerly in Roebuck, she was a faithful member of the Woodruff Church of God and the Joy Club. Janet loved to work in her yard attending to her flowers.

  Janet is survived by her loving husband, Robert Doyle Sloan of the home; two daughters, Angela (Paul) Lundberg of Spartanburg, Misty Sloan of Woodruff; brother, Albert Volkman of Kingsport, Tennessee; sister, Emma Betty Green of Dallas, Texas.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kenneth Lucas Lundberg and Jennifer Alexandra Lundberg.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Woodruff Church of God officiated by Rev. Jonathan Knight and Rev. James Shealy.  Interment will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens with a committal by Mr. Danny Knight.

  Visitation will be held from 2:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

  The Woodruff Church of God Joy Club members will serve as Honorary Escort at the service.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

  The family would like to give a special thank you to Amy Andrews and the Hospice Care Team.
