Mack Lancaster
ENOREE- Douglas (Mack) Lancaster,83, of 6011 Cross Anchor Road went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Regional Hospice Home.
He was born June 19, 1942, in Spartanburg County to the late William Linder Lancaster and Stella Brewington Lancaster. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Pauline and was a former longtime member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church. He served as Deacon and Sunday School Leader at Friendship Baptist Church and Cedar Shoals Baptist Church.
Mack was a former Fireman with the City of Spartanburg and served as Fire Inspector and Deputy State Fire Marshall until his retirement in 1997. He served as President of the South Carolina State Fireman’s Association from 1988 to 1989. He also was a member of the Fire Chief’s Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992. Mack was inducted into the State Fireman’s Association Hall of Fame in 2003 as well as the South Carolina Firefighter’s Hall of Fame. He was a founding member and Chief of Hobbysville Fire Department (now Trinity Fire Department) having served until 2009.
Mack served on the Meansville-Riley Road Water Company Board, was a member of Cross Anchor Masonic Lodge #262, and was a Hejaz Shriner.
He was a Woodruff High School football chain crew member for 50 years. Mack was a former part-time funeral assistant with Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary, Woodruff.
Surviving is his wife, Elaine Bailey Lancaster of the home; two daughters, Kim Hunter (Jackie) of Enoree and Tammi Stone (DeWayne) of Enoree; three sisters, Hazel Sumner of Enoree, Elsie Parrish of Woodruff, and Nan Owings of Woodruff; one brother, Harold Lancaster of Laurens; four grandchildren, Kaci Buhler (Mark), Jared Stone (Caitlin), Will Stone (Jordan) and Holly Stone; three great-grandchildren, Emily Buhler, Aiden Buhler and Reed Stone. He was predeceased by four sisters; Lillie Mae Knight, Lois McGill, Elzene O’Shields, and Yvonne Huckaby and two brothers; Sam Lancaster and Joe Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church by Rev. Gunne Davis, Rev. Brian Harris, Rev. Fred Quidley and Rev. Greg Black. Interment will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens with a committal by Rev. Brian Harris and Rev. Greg Black.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Serving as pallbearers, Steve Taylor, Herb Nolan, David Lancaster, Doug Knight, Ricky Lancaster and Tim Lancaster.
Honorary Pallbearers, J.W. Lancaster, Brian Bailey, Paul Bailey, Buddy Wofford, Donald O’Shields and Duane Bailey.
Honorary Escort will be members of the City of Spartanburg Fire Department and Trinity Fire Department.
