Mae Lambert
WOODRUFF- Mae Ellen Fortner Lambert,91, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Regional Hospice Home.
She was born April 14, 1933, in Spartanburg County to the late Rev. B.S. Fortner and Bessie Johnson Fortner and was the widow of Earl Lambert. She was a member of the Woodruff Church of God where she was a former Sunday School Teacher for the young children and was a nursery worker. She loved attending the Joy Club at Woodruff Church of God. Mae loved her life and loved her family. She loved making people laugh and having her friends around, always laughing and having fun.
Surviving is one daughter, Judy Hayes (William) of Woodruff; one sister, Margie Duncan of Woodruff; one brother, Sloan Fortner (Dot) of Woodruff; one grandson, Jason Hayes (Alysia) of Greenwood; 3 grandchildren, Emma Kate Hayes, Bailey Hayes and Connor Hayes; her longtime friend, Zellon Colburn. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Sue Madden; 5 brothers, Oscar Fortner, TJ Fortner, Garland Fortner, Jonas Fortner and Matthew Fortner.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodruff Church of God with Rev. Jonathan Knight and Rev. James Shealy officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Woodruff Church of God, P.O. Box 275, Woodruff, S.C. 29388.
