Mary Mandina Woodruff Hollar

Lexington, SC – Mary Mandina Woodruff Hollar, 85, of 318 Pilgrim Church Road, Lexington SC and formerly of 2030 Kilgore Bridge Road, Woodruff SC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Saluda Nursing Home, Saluda, SC.

  She was born April 13th, 1938, to the late Annie Casey Woodruff and Dewey Charles Woodruff.  She was a 1956 graduate of Woodruff High School and attended Spartanburg Technical College to become a certified dental assistant. She worked for several dentists in Woodruff for many years, including Dr. C.D. Falls and Dr. David Davisson.

  She married the late Jerry Floyd Hollar on June 25th of 1961 and was married for 52 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she served the Lord in many ways.  She served as the Sunday School Secretary for 62 years, also as Choir director and was involved in GA’s, Acteens and helped with Vacation Bible School for numerous years. She loved her church and all the people of Antioch dearly. She loved watching sports with her family and loved NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves.

  Surviving are her children, Anne Hollar Campbell and husband Bill of the home, and Brenda Hollar Edwards of Woodruff; one sister, Evelyn Woodruff Trammel of Woodruff; five grandchildren, Casey Campbell of the home, B.J. and Karla Cooper, Justin Cooper, Lexie Edwards, and Gauge Edwards all of Woodruff; three great- grandchildren, Lukas Edwards, Kenzi Grace Cooper, and Danny Hollar Cooper of Woodruff SC; son in law, Bobby Cooper and sister in laws, Shirley Hollar Satterfield and Mary Lou Woodruff and special friend and care giver, Harriet Bradford.

  She was preceded in death by several members of her family. Her middle child, Melissa Michelle Hollar Cooper preceded her in death on August 18th, 2021. She was also preceded in death by brother, S.J. Woodruff and brothers-in-law, James Trammel, and Dewey Satterfield.

  The family will receive friends on Monday, September 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lanford Gwinn Mortuary, 257 N. Main Street, Woodruff SC 29388.

  Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, September 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 13683 US-221, Enoree, SC by Rev. Danny Garrett.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

  Memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 13683 US-221, Enoree SC 29335.

  The family would like to give a special thank you to all the employees of Saluda Nursing Home for the help and special care given over the past year.
