Margaret Miller Waddell

WOODRUFF- Margaret Miller Waddell, 89, wife of the late Joseph Earle Waddell, passed away at Spartanburg Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. A native of Chattahoochee, Georgia, she was born on August 5, 1934, to the late Frank and Flora Britt Miller.
Mrs. Waddell moved to Woodruff at ten years of age after living in Georgia and Florida during her early years. She was a graduate of Gray Court-Owings High School in Laurens, SC, having attended Woodruff Schools through her junior year. She was retired from Woodruff Healthcare. Mrs. Waddell was a member of Green Pond Baptist Church for 68 years where she served on fellowship committees and taught in children’s programs. As a devoted wife, she enjoyed 60 wonderful years of marriage. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who created a safe, loving home for her family and enjoyed nothing more than gathering the family for special events and celebrations.
Mrs. Waddell is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Kim McAbee (John) of Spartanburg, and Teresa Truesdale (Kenny) of Boiling Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Waddell (Judy) of Woodruff; four grandchildren, Dr. Joseph McAbee (Meredith) of Kensington, MD, Alexandria Martinez (Taylor) of Woodruff, SC, Luke Truesdale of Boiling Springs, SC, and Corey Waddell of Woodruff, SC; three great-grandchildren, Elouise Martinez, Eleanore Martinez, and Lydia McAbee; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Waddell was the last surviving member of her immediate family, as she was pre-deceased by her brother Ralph Miller and sisters Dorothy Osborne and Mildred Osborne.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Cathy Partlow for her excellent care of Mrs. Waddell during these last years.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary in Woodruff.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, at 11:00am at Green Pond Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dick Williams. Interment will follow in Green Pond Memorial Gardens.
