Mary “Sis” Vaughn

WOODRUFF- Mary Ellen “Sis” Vaughn, 85, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024, surrounded by her family.

  Mary was born January 13, 1939, in Union County to the late Paul and Ruth Hardin Ward and was the widow of Alton Vaughn.  She loved country music and George Jones had her heart, when she heard his music, she would cut a rug.

  She leaves behind to cherish precious memories, two daughters, Tonya (Melvin) Moates of Woodruff and Cathy (Jose) Corona of Woodruff; two step-daughters, Christine (Edward) Robledo of Wharton, Texas and Sandra Pena of Wharton, Texas; three grandchildren, Bubba (Tara) Glass of Woodruff, Brandy (Leroy) Waters of Duncan and Jose Corona Jr. of Woodruff; four great-grandchildren, Jadlin Waters, Gabe Glass, Kaelyn Glass and Memphis Glass; step-grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher, Brian, Elizabeth, Amanda and Edward Jr. all of Wharton, Texas; one brother, Steve (Rachel) Ward of Union.  A very special sister-in-law, Joyce Ward Hall of Buffalo.  A special friend, Kathy Ivey of Woodruff.  She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Jean Ward and six brothers, Bob Ward, Kenneth Ward, Gene Ward, Tony Ward, Jabo Ward and Phillip Ward.

  The family would like to give a special thank you to Ms. April Watkins for being a great caregiver.  The family would like to also thank Dana, Natailie and Elizabeth and the staff at Spartanburg Oncology and the staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice.

  Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
