Mattie Jennings Cooper
WOODRUFF- Mattie Mae Jennings Cooper,102, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Woodruff Manor after 9 years of residency.
She was born June 3, 1923, in Spartanburg County to the late Tom Jennings and Dovie Brady Jennings and was the widow of Thomas Boyd Cooper. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by a daughter, Annie Mae Barnette; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Jennings and Kathleen Vaughn; son, Rev. Frank Cooper; stepson, Bill Cooper; sisters, Lucille West, Kathleen Phillips, Martha Jennings and Marie Tanner; brothers, Mack Jennings, Paul Jennings, Jay Jennings, Boyd Jennings, Mose Jennings and Lester Jennings.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Frankie (Cly) Gilbert of Inman, Jonnie (Rick) Casebeer of Woodruff, Scott (Crystal) Cooper of Roebuck, Chad (Jennifer) Cooper of Greer, Greg Cooper of Woodruff, Michael Cooper of Roebuck, Clayton "Buddy" Cooper of Waterloo and Lorraine (John) Dominick of Woodruff; great-grandchildren, Dalton (Ashley) Theo, Jared (Kayla) Lanford, Miranda Gilbert, Addison Cooper, Mikala (Bradley) Taylor, Justin Cooper, Joshua Cooper and Taylor Cooper; great-great-grandchildren, Noah Theo, Alayna Theo, Banx Lanford, Adleigh Lanford, Avie Lanford, Lennox Martin, Paisley Taylor and Knox Taylor. She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Erika Gilbert.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Mr. Cly Gilbert. Interment will follow at Selma Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers, Dalton Theo, Jared Lanford, Banx Lanford, Rick Casebeer, Scott Cooper, Chad Cooper and Greg Cooper.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Woodruff Manor and Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their love and care shown to Mrs. Cooper and the family.
