Pete DeShields Obituary

Pete DeShields

ENOREE- David Pete DeShields, Sr., 76, of 3581 Hwy. 92 passed away peacefully Thursday, August 1, 2019.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was born March 8, 1943 to the late Larry M. and Eva Waldrep DeShields.  He was a graduate of Carlisle Military School in 1961.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was the owner of DeShields Builders where he taught a many of young men the trade of building a house a home.  He was the best father to his children as well as so many others.  He made building anything look like it was the easiest thing to do.  Pete loved his coffee and just being outside with his family and many friends.  He has traveled to so many states doing what he loved to do BUILD.  He surely has left his hands across this United States, that’s for sure.  His smile could sure brighten up any room, that’s just who he was.  He honestly should have stock in Little Debbie Cakes as much as he loved them, well any sweets for that matter.  Gail Crocker kept him happy with all the cakes he could eat and he loved her for that.

Surviving are his wife, Glenda Branson DeShields of 56 years along with their children, Margaret Switzer (Montolla), Adrian (Abby) and Austin DeShields and Triston Evans; Chris DeShields, Dustin DeShields (Nikki), Seth DeShields and David DeShields (Donna), Chase Teague (Sarah), Madison DeShields and Amber Dell DeShields; brother, Johnny DeShields (Barbara); 2 great grandchildren, Konner Grubbs and Keaton Powell.  He was a mentor/father figure to Jimbo Parham, Ricky Harper, Michael Teague, Robbie Simmons, Todd Simmons and Jerry Durham.  He was predeceased by his brother Martin DeShields and his granddaughter, Danielle DeShields.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Kevin Bishop.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3200 Hwy. 92, Enoree, S.C. 29335.
