Phillip Boyd Sumner

  Phillip Boyd Sumner, age 69, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Prisma Health Hillcrest Memorial Hospital in Simpsonville.

  He was born November 26, 1956, to the late LeRoy Boyd Sumner and Jewel Lanford Sumner.  Phillip enjoyed fishing on the Santee River with his fishing buddy, Jerry G. Montjoy.

  Phillip is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janet Kelly; son, Michael Sumner (Brandy); loving daughter-in-law, Tara Trantham; a grandson that he loved with all his heart, Christian Boyd Sumner; daughter, Stacy Sumner; sisters, Cathie Taylor and Rosanne Montjoy.  He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Eugene Sumner.

  A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel in Woodruff officiated by Rev. Kenny Moore, Mr. Christian Sumner, Mr. Kenneth Gist and Mr. Jerry Montjoy.

  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
