Reverend Dr. Richard D. Dillingham

 

ENOREE- The Reverend Dr. Richard Dean Dillingham, 84, of 191 Chigger Waddel Road went home to be with the Lord, Friday, March 5, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, N.C. with his family by his side.

  A native of York, S.C., he was born March 3, 1937 to the late Rev. “R.V.” Dillingham and Mildred McSwain Dillingham.  He was a 1955 graduate of Chapman High School and received a B.A., from Wofford College, a M. Ed., from Winthrop College, a D. Min., from Luther Rice Seminary and a Ph. D., from Northwestern Theological Seminary.  Reverend Dr. Dillingham was a Church of God Minister having served as pastor of several churches including, Pocomoke City, Maryland; North Augusta; South Carolina, Langley; South Carolina, Lake City; South Carolina and Rock Hill; South Carolina (Garden Sanctuary).  Reverend Dr. Dillingham was a current member of Mauldin Church of God in Mauldin, South Carolina.

  Surviving are his loving wife, Mary Louise Wardell Dillingham of the home; one daughter, Donna Dillingham Cody of the home; one son, Curwood Dillingham (Elizabeth) of Rock Hill; two sisters, Reba Bailey (Kevin) of Enoree and Linda Casey (Rodger) of Enoree; one brother, Randolph Dillingham (Dianne) of Enoree; three granddaughters, Adrianna Cody, Briana Cody and Christen Cody.  He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Dale Dillingham Sproles (Joe).

  A public graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Whisperwood, The Dillingham Family Cemetery located on the family property at 191 Chigger Waddel Road, Enoree by Rev. Daniel Cooper, Rev. Paul Moulds, Rev. Bobby Johnson and Mr. Randolph Hamrick Dillingham.

  Serving as pallbearers, Drew Watson, Cole Watson, Leon Criss, Casey Letourneau, Clint Letourneau and Travis Cody.

  The Reverend Dr. Dillingham will lie in state at the Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary, 257 North Main Street, Woodruff, Tuesday March 9, 2021 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for family, friends and acquaintances to pay their respects.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mauldin Church of God, 411 East Butler Road, Mauldin, S.C. 29662.

  The Dillingham Family sincerely, deeply regrets that during this time of uncertainty that we are unable to socialize and visit because of health concerns.

  Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic it is requested that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced at the graveside service.
