Richard W. Shoemaker

 

Richard Wayne Shoemaker, 75, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Regional Hospice Home.

  He was born March 5, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant, N.C. to the late Walter Lee and Daisey Creed Shoemaker.  He attended Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church and was a contractor and retired from R.L. Jordan Oil Co.  Mr. Shoemaker served in the U.S. Navy and was a substitute teacher with Spartanburg County School District 3. Richard was also a longtime Bluegrass Musician.

  Surviving are his wife, Shawn Lee Shoemaker of the home; one son, Brandon Shoemaker of Charlotte, N.C.; stepson, Christopher Webb of Greenville; four sisters, Reba Shoe of Gold Hill, N.C., Annie Barrier of Mt. Pleasant, N.C., Judy Furr of Norwood, N.C. and Mary Smetzer of Mt. Pleasant, N.C.; three brothers, Jake Shoemaker of Concord, N.C., Grady Shoemaker of Kannapolis, N.C. and Dennis Shoemaker of Concord, N.C.  Richard was first married to the late Shirley Johnson Shoemaker and was predeceased by a sister, Agnes Henson and a brother, Charlie Shoemaker.

  A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 13683 Hwy. 221, Enoree by Rev. John Cox.

  Visitation will immediately follow the graveside service.

  Due to the COVID Pandemic it is requested that masks and social distancing be practiced.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd Street, New York, N.Y. 10016.

  The family is at their respective homes.
