WOODRUFF- Ricky Jay Theo, 66, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, at Woodruff Manor after a battle with cancer.

  A son of the late Walter Joel “W.J.” (2005) and Dorothy Powers “Dot” Theo (2012), Ricky was born December 13, 1955, in Laurens, S.C.

  A 1974 graduate of Woodruff High School, he was a Realtor in Woodruff.  He enjoyed real estate, but site preparation and constriction were his love.  He liked to “see dirt move.”

  He was former vice president of W.J. Theo & Sons Construction.  He was on several job sites, but site preparations at Lake Blalock, Michelin Tire and The Greenville-Spartanburg Jetport were among his favorites.

  Ricky enjoyed fishing, attending loud rock concerts and superfast muscle cars.  A 1974 Plymouth Roadrunner was his first car (with large and loudspeakers).  He loved to eat out at country cooking restaurants.  He was also an avid Woodruff Wolverine and South Carolina Gamecock fan.

  Survivors include a brother, Tracy Theo, a sister, Heather Caldwell Theo (Todd) and a nephew, Walt Caldwell, all of Woodruff.  He was predeceased by brothers, Walter Theo (1981) and Mike Theo (2010).

  A private graveside service will be held at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens per Ricky’s request.

  The family invites friends to pay their respects between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303.
