Sara O. Ouzts
WOODRUFF- Sara Owens Ouzts, 86, of 311 Edgewood Circle passed away, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at her residence after a long illness.
She was born May 19, 1934 in the Warrior Creek Community of Gray Court, Laurens County, to the late William Alvin and Louise Bramlett Owens. A 1952 graduate of Gray Court-Owings High School, she was for 46 years a faithful employee of the Palmetto Bank, where she earned the title of Assistant Cashier, working for many years at the main bank in Laurens and later in Spartanburg.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Woodruff and member of the Winsome Sunday School Class, she was a former member and nursery director of Emma Gray Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Garden Ellas Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary of B.J. Workman Memorial Hospital formerly in Woodruff.
Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Perry Cooper Ouzts, surviving is her only child, Dr. David Perry Ouzts and his husband, Joseph Lee Middleton, of Memphis, Tennessee. Also surviving are sisters, Jayne Owens Shipley, Gray Court; Joan Owens Gardner, Greenville; and Shirley Owens Farmer, Fountain Inn. She was preceded in death by siblings, Mildred Owens Brownlee, Laurens; Mary Lou Owens Honeycutt, US Army (Ret), Fort Worth, Texas; William Cecil Owens, US Navy (Ret), Gray Court and Marshall Eugene Owens, Greenville.
A private burial service will be held, with a public service to be scheduled on a future date.
