Sara W. Weathers

ENOREE- Sara Walker Weathers,97, of 14838 Highway 221 went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 26, 2025, at her residence.

  She was born May 17, 1928, in Spartanburg County to the late John Perry Walker and Bessie Goodwin Walker and was the widow of Dennis Green Weathers.  She was the oldest member of Antioch Baptist Church and retired from Inman Mills with over 52 years of service.  Mrs. Weathers enjoyed gardening, working outdoors and bluegrass music.  She loved visiting Holden Beach and collecting seashells and enjoyed trips to Maggie Valley.  Grandma Weathers’ favorite time of the year was Christmas which was evident by her home and yard being decorated with many colorful Christmas lights and decorations.  Many enjoyed this yearly tradition by slowly passing by on the highway or simply stopping by to get a better view.

  Mrs. Weathers was blessed to be able to stay in her home during her declining health with love and care from her great-granddaughter Cynthia (Preston) Lane and her granddaughter, Ann Gregory, for the past two years.

  Surviving is one brother, Harold Walker of Columbia; half-sister, Carolyn Jean Walker of Spartanburg; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.

  She was predeceased by her daughter, Frances Weathers Gregory, July 12, 2021, and two sons, Willie Earl Weathers, March 1950 and John Wilson Weathers, September 3, 2021.  She was also predeceased by her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Walker, Shadie Kate Walker and two half-sisters, Patricia Ann Walker Dutton and Carolyn Jean Walker Thompson; brothers, J.P. Walker, James William Walker, Joe Winford Walker and Wayne LeRoy Walker.

  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Steve Ramey.  Interment will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

  Visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church.

  Serving as pallbearers, Preston Lane Sr., Easton Lane, PJ Lane, Dennis Gregory Jr., Daniel Gregory, Andre Sprouse, Kayden Doolittle and Cameron Richard.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 13683 Highway 221, Enoree, S.C. 29335.

  The family is at her residence.
