Sergeant First Class Jonathan Heath Richards, 43, of 6613 Accipiter Drive, New Market, Maryland went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Heath was born December 20, 1979, in Spartanburg County. He was a 1999 graduate of Bandys High School in Catawba, North Carolina and received his Master of Business Administration from Grantham University. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania and obtained certification as a Master Resilience Trainer. Heath was the current Regional Manager for Orkin Pest Control in Maryland, served 21 years in the U.S. Army, and was currently serving as an Army Career Counselor.

Surviving is his wife, Sungyeon Woo “Lucy” Richards of the home; mother and step-father, Lyn Childs Yates and Randy Yates of Hickory, North Carolina; father and step-mother, Donnie and Michelle Richards of McCormick; one daughter, Kiesha Richards of Newmarket, Maryland; three sons, Kaden Richards of Newmarket, Maryland, Tyler Richards (Kayla) of Fort Liberty and Cameron Richards of Enoree; one sister, Heather Richards of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; paternal grandmother, Margie Arnold Richards McRay of Chesnee; one granddaughter, Ellie Richards. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Ray and Katy Anthony and his paternal grandfather, Carol Richards.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. at the Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel, 257 North Main Street, Woodruff by Major James Copeland, Mr. Neil Childs, Mr. Anthony McAlister, Mr. Art Watson and Ms. Heather Richards with full military honors.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. prior to the service.
