Sgt. Bobby Dale Grice
Sgt. Bobby Dale Grice, 62, of 101 Woodwind Drive, 62, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 at Spartanburg Medical Center.
He was born August 28, 1959 in Travelers Rest and was the son of Randall Devon and Barbara Jean Wood Grice. He was a Sergeant with Mauldin City Police Department and was a Lieutenant with the Greenville County Detention Center while serving Greenville County. He was on the Greenville Dive Team and SWAT Team, and served as Defense Tactics Instructor, PR 24 Instructor, Ground Defense Instructor and Driving Instructor.
Surviving are his wife, Maria Grice of the home; two daughters, Tana LeAnne Beason of Marietta and Jessica Baucom of Simpsonville; one step-daughter, Amber Lee Waddell of Simpsonville; one step-son, Nathan Tyler Waddell of Simpsonville; one sister, Julia Livingston of Easley; two brothers, Daniel Grice of Spartanburg and Sgt. Cherokee Grice, serving in the U.S. Marines in Parris Island; 14 grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Spartanburg Optimist Club, 598 Foster Mill Road, Spartanburg.
A funeral escort for Sgt. Grice’s cremains will assemble at the Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary, 257 North Main Street, Woodruff at 12:00 p.m. consisting of Mauldin Police Department, Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Noble Few LE Motor Club to assist in the transportation of his cremains to the Optimist Club. (All family and friends are asked to assemble at the Optimist Club by 12:45 p.m.)
