A hard worker all his years, Steve was formerly employed for over 40 years with W.R. Grace and Specialty Vermiculite. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter and loved being in the great outdoors. He was a past lodge master of Enoree Masonic Lodge #222 and attended First Baptist Church of Woodruff.
Steve fiercely loved the Lord, his country, and his friends and his family.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his loving wife, Kim Richards Hughes, the two of which had recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, his daughter Emma Hughes Jauch (Michael) of Chapin, son, Colt Hughes (Jordan) of Pauline; sisters Rhonda Cox (Phil) of Woodruff, Christie Simmons of Enoree; honorary brother, Mitchell Powers of Enoree and the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Parker Jauch, Molly Anne Jauch, and Georgia Kate Hughes who brought so much joy and comfort to him in recent years.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Monday, February 16th, 2026, at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.
