Steve Hensley
Steven “Steve” Robert Hensley, 76, of 724 Golden Tanager Court, Greer went home to be with the Lord, Friday, June 5, 2026.
He was born April 9,1950, in Lima, Ohio to the late Robert Charles Hensley and Barbara Anne Hopkins Hensley.
Steve was an avid bicyclist who completed many long-distance bike rallies and rides across his home state of Ohio and throughout the Midwest. A devoted animal lover, he shared his life with many beloved pets. In recent years, he and his wife Darlene especially enjoyed caring for their dog, Toby, and dog-sitting for family and new friends.
Retirement from North American Philips Magnavox in Ottawa, Ohio allowed Steve to devote more time to the hobbies that he loved, including tinkering, photography, bicycling, supporting local dog rescues, taking care of his lawn, and tending countless gardens and plants alongside Darlene. He also dedicated many years of service to his church communities, volunteering faithfully in Lima (OH) Baptist Temple, Dupont (OH) Church of the Brethren, and West Spartanburg (SC) Baptist Church. Many will remember the countless good deeds that he quietly did, and he will be greatly missed.
Surviving is his wife, Darlene Brown Kleman Hensley of the home; one daughter, Susan Hensley Crane (Tim) of Zanesfield, Ohio; one step-daughter, Erin Kleman Hollenbaugh (Michael) of Norton, Ohio; one step-son, Eric Kleman (Amy) of Fountain Inn,SC; two sisters, Sandra Raye McDonald of Little Rock, Arkansas and Bethany Anne Burke (Willie) of Andersonville, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren.
