Tommy Compton
BOILING SPRINGS- Thomas Milton “Tommy” Compton, 84, of 102 Hendrix Drive passed in peace Monday, June 28, 2021 at Regional Hospice Home.
He was born February 8, 1937 in Arcadia, S.C. to the late Oscar and Helen Frances Taylor Compton. He was a retired machinist with Spartanburg Steel and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife and best friend of 34 years, Frances Toney Compton of the home. He was the proud father to one step-daughter, Kaye (Robert) Cooper of Enoree; two sons, Sid (Leigh) Compton of Boiling Springs and Jeffrey Compton of Inman, step-son, Thomas Brown of Boiling Springs. He was the spoiler of 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Tommy will forever be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and loyal friend. He was loved by everyone he knew, his warm smile meant he never met a stranger, his character, strong will and loyalty influenced anyone he knew. He was a simple man raised with knowledge and love for the Lord and the principles of hard work. Tommy’s battle with serious medical issues showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain Tommy came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel in Woodruff by Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303.
The family is at the residence.
