Virginia Shockley Abercrombie

(09/23/1939 – 01/04/2023) 

Virginia Shockley Abercrombie is now walking with her LORD SAVIOR in Heaven as she faded away from this world on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. She was 83 years young at the time of her Home Going. She was welcomed with loving arms by her husband, the Reverend Frank L. Abercrombie who went home in 2005. Her sweet parents, Clarence Lee Shockley, Sr and Frances Pulley Shockley as well as her brother Clarence Lee Shockley, Jr. were also there to greet her. Virginia or “Ginny” as she was known to her friends. 

She was born in Woodruff on September 23, 1939. She was a Lifetime member of Bramlett United Methodist Church and a former member of Mills Mill Baptist Church, now Cornerstone Baptist Church where she attended. Virginia was a graduate of Woodruff High School, Methodist Ministers wife for over 35 years, a retired Pastor’s wife of the United Methodist Conference, formerly an X-Ray Tec and a loving Mother and Wife. 

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Sims (Brad) of Woodruff and Sandra Austin (Joe) of Woodruff; sister Louise Mazziotti of Stanley, NC; sister-in-law, Gail Abercrombie; three grandchildren; Josh Sims, Jonathan Austin and Ashleigh Austin; Niece, Eileen Abercrombie Watson; Nephews, Cecil Anderson (Nellene), Michael Godfrey, Tony Godfrey, Frank Mazziotti, and Cecil Abercrombie Jr. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she is deceased by a brother, Clarence Lee Shockley Jr. 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 06, 2023, at Bramlett United Methodist Church Cemetery at 11:30 am., officiated by Chaplain Thom Thornton, Rev. John Fahrney, Mr. Gordon Godfrey and Kaci Bright, RN (Spartanburg Regional In-Home Hospice Nurse). 

The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center immediately following the service.
