Walter Terrell “Terry” Davis
WOODRUFF- Walter Terrell “Terry” Davis,74, of 357 East Hayne Street went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Spartanburg Medical Center.
He was born July 13, 1951, in Spartanburg County to Sarah Burgess Davis Patterson and the late Ollie “Doodle” Davis. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodruff and a 1970 graduate of Woodruff High School. Terry worked as an electrician at Lyman Printing and Finishing after high school. He then went to work as a lineman with Duke Power and Spartanburg County Communication 911 as a telecommunicator for 17 years before retiring in 2013.
Terry received the Claude F. Powell Award in 2004 and in 2010 received the Telecommunicator of the Year Award. He was the Former Assistant Fire Chief for nine years with Woodruff Fire Department and was a former Administrative Chief of Poplar Springs Fire Department. Terry’s hobbies included cooking and genealogy.
Surviving is his loving wife, Jennifer Lanford Davis of almost 24 years of the home; one daughter, Wanda Davis Campbell (Ken) of Woodruff; one son, Joshua Philbeck (Rebecca) of Spartanburg; three grandsons, Liam Campbell, Nathan Campbell and Tyler Vaughn; granddaughter, Kayla Danyel Philbeck; one brother, Ken Davis (Darlene) of Woodruff; sister-in-law, Melanie Watson of Simpsonville; his beloved fur baby, Bella. He was predeceased by his stepfather, LeRoy “Pat” Patterson; son, Justin Philbeck and a grandchild, Jacob Philbeck.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodruff officiated by Rev. Andrew Shull. Terry will be escorted for interment at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens by Trinity Fire and Rescue.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Serving as pallbearers, Ken Campbell, Liam Campbell, Nathan Campbell, Jody Lamb, Darryl Williams, Tyler Vaughn, Walter Graham and Duane Bailey.
Members in attendance from the Woodruff High School Class of 1970 are asked to serve as Honorary Escort.
